Interreligious Council of Albania awarded Sergio Vieira De Mello Prize
De Mello for Human Rights
On October 25, 2018, the award ceremony of “Sergio Vieira De Mello”, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, was held in Krakow, Poland, in which the leaders of our country’s religious communities were awarded this prize for “Interfaith Brotherhood in Albania”.
The President of the Muslim Community of Albania, H. Skender Bruçaj, received the award on behalf of the Interreligious Council of Albania.
“Sergio Vieira De Mello” UN High Commissioner for Human Rights is an award given annually to individuals or personalities who represent causes for the good of the common society.
Afterwards, representatives of Albanian religious communities paid a visit to the infamous Auschwitz camp, where they placed flowers in memory of the victims of Holocaust.
