After several workings and meetings, the leaders of the religious communities of Albania have gathered on date 22.10.2018 at the headquarters of the Muslim Community of Albania, where some important decisions have been made regarding the well-functioning and some statutory changes of the Interfaith Council of Albania, established in 2007 by the traditional religious communities in the country.
The meeting was attended by H. SkenderBruçaj, Chairman of the Albanian Muslim Community, His Beatitude, AnastasJanullatos, Head of the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania, Mons. George Frendo, head of the Catholic Episcopal Conference of Albania, H. Dede Edmond Brahimaj, head of the Bektashi World Headquarters, and Pastor YlliDoçi, President of the Evangelical Brotherhood of Albania.
During this meeting, along with the statutory changes, some decisions were made regarding some changes in the institutional direction of the Interfaith Council, which is composed of the Council of the Presidency, the Executive Council and the General Secretary.
The highest decision-making body of IRCA Center is the Presidency Council, which consists of the member religious communities’ chairmen and members of the Center. The Executive Council consists of two representative members from each community.
The Chairman of the Council of the Presidency has a one year mandate and leaders of religious communities will have this rotational task. The head of the Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania, His Beatitude, AnastasJanullatos, was appointed for next year 2019-2020, while the general secretary was elected Dr. Genti Kruja with a three-year mandate.
In this meeting was also set up the publication of various literature, where will be reflected interfaith activity in Albania, as well as periodic meetings according to the statute of IRC of Albania.
The Interreligious Council of Albania has as its mission to promote interfaith dialogue and harmony through joint projects and activities.
