On January 23, 2023, Interreligious Council of Albania held the first meeting of this year's Presidency Board that held at the Muslim Community of Albania. In the meeting participated the Chairman of the Muslim Community of Albania, H. Bujar Spahiu, Bishop Asti Bakallbashi, Assistant of the Archbishop His Beatitude, Anastasios Yannoulatos, President of the Episcopal Conference, Mons. Angelo Massafra, Grandfather of the World Bektashi H. Dede Edmond Brahimaj, President of the Evangelical Alliance of Albania, Pastor Ergest Biti, Secretary General of the Interreligious Council of Albania, Assoc. Prof. Genti Kruja and Mrs. Sheldiana Jano.
The main agenda of the meeting of the Council of the Presidency of the IRCA was the assumption of the office of the head of the Interreligious Council of Albania for 2023, by the Chairman of the Muslim Community of Albania, H. Bujar Spahiu, based on the statute and rotation approved at the meeting of the Council of the Presidency of IRCA in 2018, a task, which is succeeded by Pastor Ylli Doçi.
Further, the meeting continued with the presentation of the activity and financial reports for 2022, the approval of the new members of the Executive Board and information was shared about the delegates of the Interreligious Council of Albania, elected at the last meeting, who will be part of the Assembly of Religions for Peace Europe.
The presidency of the Interreligious Council of Albania, which will be held by President Spahiu during 2023, also coincides with the 100th anniversary of independence and the establishment of the Muslim Community of Albania.
