Interreligious Council of Albania Participates in International Scientific Panel at the Romanian Academy

BUCHAREST, Romania, 27 April 2026 – The Albanian Interreligious Council was represented at the international scientific panel “Coexistence and Identity Conflict in Southeastern Europe,” held at the Romanian Academy, with the participation of scholars, experts, and institutional representatives from several countries of the region.
The event addressed challenges and opportunities related to identity, intercultural dialogue, peaceful coexistence, and the role of religious and academic institutions in strengthening regional stability.
Within the framework of the panel, Prof. Assoc. Dr. Genti Kruja delivered a presentation titled “Building Peace through Faith: The Albanian Experience of Interfaith Harmony,” presenting the Albanian model as an example of respect, harmony, and cooperation among the country’s different religious communities throughout history.
He emphasized that interfaith harmony in Albania remains an important national value and a meaningful model for peace and mutual understanding in Southeastern Europe and beyond.
The participating international delegation was also received at the Parliament of Romania by Iulius Marian Fircz, where discussions were held on democracy and freedom of religion during the post-communist transition period in the region.
Interreligious Council of Albania continues to promote interfaith dialogue, a culture of peace, and cooperation among religious communities in Albania and beyond, as an institution internationally recognized and honored with several awards.
