On June 18, 2020 were held the third National Consultations of the Department of Women and the Department of Youth of the Interreligious Council of Albania.
In the meeting leaded by the Secretary General of IRCA Dr. Genti Kruja, were attended by members of two departments of the Council, who gathered in an unusual situation, where our country and the world is locked, to avoid the spread of the Covid 19 virus, they discussed about some issues and projects that will applied and implemented by the Department of Women and the Department of Youth.
The meeting was initially opened with a tribute to former Youth Department member Xhontil Bardhi, who tragically lost his life a few days ago. This event has once again emphasized the tragedy of blood feuds in our country, a wound which still suffers and requires bigger attention from the Albanian state.
The meeting then continued with discussions on organizing a humanitarian project, which will be extended to the earthquake area for families in need. This project which will be implemented in cooperation with the International Organization “Religions for Peace” comes in the context of the difficult economic situation, caused by Covid 19 and will be implemented by the Department of Women and the Department of Youth in the Inter Religious Council in cooperation with five religious communities in country.
In addition to this project, several other activities were discussed, which will take place during a year in the field of promoting interfaith dialogue and the fight against radicalism and extremism of any form and type.
Already more than a year since the establishment of these two new departments, these units have held several activities and meetings in the framework of strengthening the role of women and youth in the field of interfaith dialogue.
