Interreligious Council of Albania – Press Statement
The Interreligious Council of Albania, as the representative of the five religious communities of the country, has over the years attentively followed every national and international concern that has threatened social peace and coexistence. Today, we, the religious communities in Albania, join our voices with the international calls of Religions for Peace EuropeReligions for Peace Europe-an institution of which we are part-the recent appeal of the Latin and Orthodox Patriarchates of Jerusalem, the call of 80 Orthodox Rabbis from around the world, as well as Islamic and Christian communities worldwide, the United Nations, and other international institutions. Through their appeal, they express deep concern over the dramatic humanitarian situation in Gaza and the West Bank, calling for an immediate end to the war and the release of all hostages.
The IRCA calls for an end to violence and the safeguarding of the lives of innocent civilians, especially women and children, who are the greatest victims of this conflict. The forced displacement of populations, obstruction of humanitarian aid, and destruction of basic infrastructure cannot be justified in any way and represent a grave violation of human dignity.
In the spirit of interfaith solidarity and the moral responsibility carried by religion, the Interreligious Council of Albania reaffirms that lasting peace can only be built upon justice, compassion, and mutual respect.
We call on world leaders, international institutions, and all people of goodwill to intensify their efforts to end the conflict, to ensure the immediate delivery of necessary humanitarian aid, and to open the path toward a just and sustainable peace in the Holy Land and beyond.
Blessed are the peacemakers!
